A new class begins by creating its culture and building a community. The next step is to define its goals and clearly state how they will achieve their goals. This is done by collectively formulating a mission statement.[MS] The MS is a group project. Everyone is expected to particiate. It defines who the class is; [ i.e. Mrs. Belcher's Fifth grade class ] what their goals are and how they will attain their goals. Henseforth, the MS is utilized to guide classroom discussion and achievement throughout the school year.
