Isn't this a beautiful cast iron banding wheel ? My grandmother had one like it in the 1940's. Her's came to me in November, 1955. My sister would spin me on to disorient the fluid in my inner ear. [ make me dissy ]
This one came from a ceramic supplier. It cost about $ 65.00. [US] It has ball bearings and turns as smooth as glass; forever. The pile next to it is a collection of garage or yard sale gems. They cost about $.25 [US] each. That is one quarter of a dollar [US]. They turn very nicely, thank you. Ten or more are perfect for doing a repetitious production pattern on a set of pots or plates; whatever.. Look for them, they will make you smile.
